What began as ten Photoshop scripts from one productive Sunday afternoon, become a polished UXP extension, and now a standalone, cross-platform product with desktop and mobile access under one license. Photographs without borders and frames are just photographs. While there is nothing wrong with that, would you tack a photograph to your walls and call it art? Probably not.

When we add a border, a signature and a frame to a photograph we assign a certain prestige and value that the two dimensional digital image or even print can hold on their own. When we display our work without a border, we rely completely on the environment in which the image is displayed to make it feel the way we would hope, and more importantly, we are saying to the viewers of our images that we feel that this peice is more than just a collection of pixels on a screen or pigment on a page.

Here is an example. A small gallery wall, with photographs that have been processed to use a classic thin black frame with a single matte, title and EXIF data, and a signature and Japanese stamp, all applied in a batch export from Frame Weaver.

Now, for comparison, here are roughly the same size images just pasted to the same wall. If I was selling these photographs as wall art or fine art prints, or even making a proposal to a gallery owner, I know which presentation I'd take with me.

For a more casual presentation, such as individual images for home wall art placement, you might sample a color from each image to stain the wooden frame texture with, and select a double matte, for extra depth, all inside Frame Weaver.
